Deer rescued after getting tied to fence

RSPCA officers have rescued a fallow deer stag caught by his antlers and tied to a fence.

Inspectors were called out to the distressed animal caught by his antlers in tangled rope attached to a fence in a field behind Surrenden Lake in Old Surrenden Manor Road, Bethersden.

RSPCA Chief Inspector Steve Dockery and Inspector Dave Grant restrained the stag, while Inspector Kelli Ellison cut him free.

The deer galloped off uninjured following the rescue last Thursday.

Chief Inspector Dockery said: “This goes to show the importance of people clearing up their rubbish - including bits of old rope as animals can very easily become trapped.”
