POLICE in Dorset have made a nationwide appeal to the public to help find a vulnerable man who has gone missing from his home near Bournemouth.

The family of Mark Smith, of Walpole Road in Boscombe, are growing increasingly concerned for the safety of the 37-year-old because he suffers from depression and is said to be vulnerable.

Mr Smith was reported missing from his home just before 10am on Sunday, September 16, by his mother who lives in the Bath area of Avon.

On the previous Friday, Mr Smith left for the Isle of Man for two days but failed to return to Bournemouth.

Sergeant Paul Chessell, of Boscombe police, said: “We and Mr Smith’s family are growing increasingly concerned for his safety because he suffers from mental health issues and so is very vulnerable.

“I am appealing for anyone who sees Mr Smith to contact Dorset Police in confidence as soon as possible while anyone with information about Mr Smith’s whereabouts should also get in contact as soon as possible.

“My message to Mr Smith is to please contact the police or his family as soon as possible because they are growing increasingly worried for his safety and welfare."

Anyone who sees Mr Smith should call Dorset Police via 999 while anyone with information as to his whereabouts should call Dorset Police in confidence on 01202 222 222.
