PEOPLE have been warned not to approach a dangerous convict who escaped and is on the run from a psychiatric hospital.
Neighbours of the Bethlem Royal Hospital, in Beckenham, have spoken of their deep concern after convicted armed robber Llavuan Bennett fled the clutches of hospital staff.
Bennett, 24, managed to get away from hospital staff who were escorting him around the grounds while he was on leave from the medium secure Dennis Hill unit. Bromley CID are working with the Flying Squad to try to find him.
Bennett was convicted of robbery and firearms offences in June following a robbery at a confectionary shop in Brixton, in October 2003.
Upon conviction, the judge ordered a psychiatric assessment of Bennett prior to sentencing and he was remanded in custody at Wandsworth Prison. Sentencing had been scheduled to take place on Friday, November 26.
Bennett was attending the hospital as part of his assessment when he absconded.
He is black, 5ft 6ins tall, slim with Afro hair styled in four to five inch spikes. He has moles on his nose, lips and brow. He was wearing a beige nylon hooded jacket, black jogging bottoms with white stripes down the side, a T-shirt and trainers.
Anyone who is aware of Bennett's whereabouts or has information about his escape is asked to contact the Flying Squad on 020 8247 7932.
Bennett is considered dangerous and should not be approached on any account. If you see him please call 999 straight away.
