Kent-born actress Naomi Watts, who stars in a new film about Princess Diana, has insisted producers were "respectful" to her memory.
Diana, which opens in cinemas today, claims to shed light on her two-year romance with heart surgeon Hasnat Khan.
Naomi - who was born in Shoreham, Sevenoaks - revealed she turned down the role of the Princess of Wales twice before saying yes.
The 44-year-old said: "I'm always looking for fascinating characters that are complex and full of contradictions and intelligence and fragilities.
"And she seemed to embody all of those things."
The Hollywood actress has already suffered humiliating reviews for her role in Diana: Princess of Wales.
One reviewer described the biopic as "slow and terribly, terribly dull".
Others have picked up on questions about whether or not Diana's producers got permission to film on royal grounds.
