POLICE are following up a possible sighting of missing teenager Terry Reynolds visiting the grave of a loved one on New Year’s Day.

The report from a visitor to Chatham Cemetery is one of a number of leads officers hope will finally explain his disappearance nearly two weeks ago.

Terry, who should have been out celebrating his 20th birthday on January 6, was last seen in Star Hill, Rochester, shortly after midnight on January 1.

There have been extensive searches using helicopters and police dogs at Coney Banks in Chatham and the Blue Bell Hill picnic area following a number of calls from members of the public.

It has also been revealed by police that Terry has not touched his bank account since before New Year’s Day. His mobile phone had been left at home.

Speaking to the Medway Messenger, Det Insp Mike Morgan, who is leading the investigation, said: “We had several people contact us about possible sightings, including one at the cemetery in Chatham on New Year’s Day.

“This may have been Terry, as he has a relative buried there, but the person who reported it doesn’t know him, so we still can’t be sure. We’ve spoken to all his friends and family and there was absolutely no reason why he would have disappeared.

“He was with his friends and girlfriend, when he just left the nightclub without telling them.”

Police still have hours of CCTV footage to trawl through, and hope it will reveal the route Terry may have taken.

“It’s totally out of character for him not to call his family,” Det Insp Morgan added.

“I appeal to Terry directly, that if he has gone off and just doesn’t want to go home, that’s fine, he’s done nothing wrong, but I would plead with him to give us a call and let us know he’s fit and well.

“We just want to make sure nothing has happened to you Terry; we would have to come and see you for ourselves to make sure, but that’s all that would happen.

“We just need you to come forward and tell us you are all right.”
