A SOPRANO saxophone, concert flute and a baritone saxophone were among the musical instruments, worth an estimated £10,600, stolen from a house in a Kent village.

All the items were locked in cases and it is believed they could have been mistaken as firearms cases.

They were taken from a property in Tenterden Road, Biddenden, on Saturday, February 24 between 7.10pm and 10.30pm

The offenders also caused damage estimated at £600 to a stable-type door. They left the scene in a grey Vauxhall Astra estate belonging to the owner of the instruments. This car had a flat rear offside tyre, and it was later recovered a short distance away.

PC Eddie Evans said: “The instruments are easily identifiable and unique. It is not thought they were stolen to order. It is more likely that the cases they were in resembled gun cases and that is why they were taken.”

He added: said. “I am interested in hearing form anyone who saw the grey Vauxhall Astra Estate with the flat tyre being driven in the vicinity on February 24.”
