Two lunchtime supervisors at Minster Primary School who started work on the same day 37 years ago decided to also retire on the same day.
On September 9, 1971, Evelyn Heard and Stella Webb started taking care of the children in the playground at lunchtime and supervised their packed lunches.
They both decided to call it a day on March 31.
The pair, who both live in the village, made a special visit to assembly on Friday where they were each presented with a watch.
Deputy head teacher Lynsey Dunn said: “They were known to thousands of children over the years and they decided to leave because they were both past retirement age.
“They were always there for the children and rarely had a day off.”
