Do you know man in cliff fall?

POLICE in Thanet are today trying to identify a man who was seriously injured after falling over a cliff.

A member of the public spotted the man two thirds of the way down the rockface at Epple Bay, Westgate, near Margate, at about 1.30pm yesterday.

He is believed to be aged at least 35, has short dark hair which appeared to be brushed back, and two tattoos.

Police said one of the tattoos depicted a mountain and appeared to have the name Martin written over it, while the other said CND. Anyone who recognises the description is asked to contact Thanet police.

The man suffered multiple wounds, including head injuries, but was conscious. Coastguards who climbed down the cliff face to rescue the man, said he was lucky to be alive.

A coastguard rescue helicopter was called but was not needed. Paramedics, Kent Police and two crews from Kent Fire Brigade were also present.

Part of Sea Road, Westgate, was closed while the rescue operation was carried out but re-opened at about 3.15pm.
