DETECTIVES have released a CCTV picture of a man they would like to talk to in connection with a robbery at the NatWest Bank in London Road, Larkfield, on Wednesday.

A man approached a cash in transit security guard who was at the bank and demanded he hand over a cash box.

It has now been confirmed that the box was empty because the guard was going into the bank to make a collection when it was taken from him.

The man then ran off to a waiting green BMW car which drove off and was found abandoned shortly afterwards in Oak Drive. No weapon was used and no-one was injured although the security staff were shocked by the incident.

The empty cash box was found in nearby Bell Lane some 10 minutes after the incident.

It appears that security devices in the box had activated and red dye was sprayed, possibly onto the people involved in the robbery.

Det Insp Dominic Kilbride, who is investigating the incident, said: "The man in this picture is recognisable and I would ask anyone who knows him to contact police.

"I am also repeating my earlier appeal for information about the green BMW on its journey to and from the bank and when it was abandoned."

Anyone with information can contact police on 01732 379160 or Kent Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111. Callers to Crimestoppers do not have to give their name and may be eligible for a cash reward.
