A dog slowed rush-hour traffic... when he wandered onto the M20.
Police began to get calls about the black and white border collie from worried motorists at around 8.40am this morning.
The dog, which appeared to join the M20 at junction 7, the Detling roundabout, proceeded along the hard shoulder towards junction 8 at Hollingbourne, occasionally dashing out into the carriageway.
Police spokesman Sally Smith said that "animal straying on carriageway" was flashed on the motorway's overhead warning signs and most motorists were "very responsible" in slowing down.
She said: "Patrols were dispatched, but they never found the dog.
"It seems he found his own way off the road at some time. The last report we received was at 9.45am."
No accidents were reported as a result of the dog's excursion.
