A six-month-old dog has been reunited with his owner after falling 33ft down a quarry.
The springer spaniel, called Max, had disappeared while walking with his owner in Halling woodland on Saturday.
Firefighters rescued the dog yesterday after a passer-by heard him whimpering in the quarry.
Kent Police were called and a helicopter scrambled to find the dog using a thermal imaging camera.
Firefighters from Strood and Larkfield stations, along with police and RSPCA officers, finally found Max at about 8pm.
He was reunited with his frantic owner, who lives in Halling.
A Kent Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said: "The dog had been down in the quarry for about 24 hours.
"It had fallen about 10 metres, but was fine. It was not injured, just whining a bit.
"The owner was very grateful to be reunited with the dog."
