A dog called Skippy has fallen 100ft down a cliff - and survived.

Firefighters were called to rescue the stranded mutt yesterday morning after he was spotted stuck around 60ft from the bottom.

And when the crews arrived they were amazed to find he'd got there are after falling from the top.

Incredibly, he wasn't hurt.

The incident happened at the Grand Shaft near Snargate Street, Dover.

A boat owner raised the alarm just after 9am after seeing Skippy on a ledge.

Fire crews from Dover and the line rescue team from Deal attended and went up a cliff pathway to reach the dog and carry it to safety.

Dover watch manager Jamie Muddle said: "The owners had been frantically searching for the dog and the boat owner was considering using his own ropes to try and get to it but had the good sense to ring us instead.

"We used safe access equipment to search the top area of the cliff and a crew also went to the bottom to search the ledges from there.

"Skippy was found on a ledge about 60ft from the bottom, uninjured and still yapping, and was quickly re-united with his very relieved owners."
