Drama as armed police descend on house

ARMED police officers were involved in a siege on a house in a Kent town last night.

Officers surrounded the property in Cromwell Road, Whitstable, at around 8pm.

Kent Police say they were assisting the Lancashire force, who were looking for a 46-year-old man in connection with violent offences.

Police used sniffer dogs in a search of gardens and an alleyway in the area.

Cromwell Road and Regent Street were closed for around 90 minutes.

No arrests were made.
