A MOTORIST was arrested by police on suspicion of drink-driving after his car hit a church wall on Friday night.

The crash happened at All Saints Church in Lydd High Street at around 10.45pm.

The driver - a 44-year-old local man - fled the scene but was found later by police and taken into custody.

He has not yet been charged and police are appealing for witnesses to contact them on 01303 289180.
