Driver crushed in roadside flaire-up

POLICE have issued an appeal for witnesses after a motorist had both his legs crushed when he was run over by another driver.

The 42-year-old victim, from Margate, was driving his Nissan Micra along Shottendane Road, towards Garlinge High Street, when he became aware of a dark blue 4x4 vehicle behind him.

The driver of that vehcile flashed his lights, so the Micra owner got out of his car and approached the other man. The 4x4, possibly a Mitsubishi Shogun, was then driven at the motorist, crushing both legs.

The victim was taken to hospital with severe injuries, but his legs were not broken. The man in the Shogun then drove off towards Acol without stopping to check on the injured motorist.

Police now wish to speak to this man. He is described as being aged between 35 and 50, with a round face and clean-shaven. He has light brown or light ginger hair.

The incident happened at about 9.45am on Monday. Police are also appealing for witnesses to contact PC Diane Francklin on Thanet 01843 222032.
