KENT Police have appealed for witnesses after a woman was airlifted to hospital following a crash on the A20.

Police closed the road at Lenham, between Maidstone and Ashford, while firefighters cut the driver free from the wreckage of a Fiat Brava. Her condition is not yet known.

A man who was driving a green Toyota Yaris was taken by ambulance to the William Harvey Hospital at Ashford with what were believed to be minor injuries.

Lenham Village was also congested following the crash at around 2.45pm on Tuesday as drivers sought alternative routes to avoid the incident. Traffic was running freely again by about 4.30pm.
