Driver dies after car hits tree

A MAN died in hospital after the car he was driving struck a tree on a main road in Kent.

The tragedy happened on the A258 Dover to Deal road at Guston at around 6.40pm on Tuesday night.

Fire crews attended the scene and it took them 50 minutes, using hydraulic cutting equipment, to free the driver.

A police spokesman said the Ford Mondeo involved was travelling from the Duke of York roundabout towards Dover.

The driver, a 48-year-old man from Whitfield, near Dover, was taken to the William Harvey Hospital at Ashford but he later died.
