Driver hurt in police car crash

A woman needed hospital treatment after her car was involved in a collision with a police car.

The 25-year-old was driving a Ford Ka in Maidstone Road, Chatham when she was involved in the smash, shortly after 1pm on Saturday.

The police car was on its way to an emergency call and had blue lights flashing. Two officers in the car escaped injury but the woman was taken to Medway Maritime Hospital for treatment.

She is described as having non-life threatening injuries.

Police closed Maidstone Road between The Ridgeway and Pattens Lane until shortly after 4pm to allow paramedics to attend to the woman and for an investigation into the crash to begin.

Witnesses are asked to call the Serious Collision Investigation Unit on 01622 798538.
