A WOMAN driver died after her car left the road and careered into a lake.

The 53-year-old woman, from the Romney Marsh area, was pronounced dead at the scene in Dungeness Road, Dungeness, at about 7.30pm on Monday night. She has not yet been named.

Police are appealing for witnesses who saw the Land Rover before and after it left the road and was submerged in water.

Officers from the serious crash investigation unit are dealing with the incident.
