A driver was killed when his car veered off the road and hit a fence.

The motorist - who has not yet been named but police say was a man in his 40s - was fatally injured in the crash in Rochester Road, Cuxton, at 9pm Sunday.

The car was travelling towards Snodland.

Firefighters from Strood and Halling stations helped paramedics but the emergency teams were unable to save the man, who was pronounced dead at the scene.

There were no passengers in the car, a black Peugeot 306.

Police spokesman Dan Palmer said: "The driver appears to have lost control of the vehicle and left the carriageway."
