A man has appeared in court charged with causing death by careless driving after a teenager died in a crash in Rainham.

Mateusz Makiewicz, of Canterbury Street, Sittingbourne, wept in the dock at Medway Magistrates' Court.

The 29-year-old Polish national confirmed his name and address through an interpreter.

April George, 19, died following the incident on the A2 at Moor Street on Wednesday.

Floral tributes have been left at the scene of the crash.

Makiewicz was remanded in custody and will next appear at the court on Friday.
