A CRASH between an articulated lorry and a 36-tonne mobile crane shut a busy section of the M2 during this morning's rush hour.
The lorry and crane collided near Rochester's M2 bridge on the coast bound section shortly before 6.20am.
Debris and oil were strewn across three lanes and the central reservation was damaged.
Police shut the road as fire crews from Strood and Medway freed the driver of the lorry who was trapped in his cab. He was later taken to Gillingham's Medway Maritime Hospital.
One lane was opened at 8.30am, but the other lanes are still closed to allow a team from the Highways Agency to make the road safe.
An investigation into the crash is also being undertaken by Kent Police.
