Driver trapped in car after crash

FIREFIGHTERS had to cut the roof off a crashed car to free a woman with suspected spinal injuries.

The woman was trapped in her Vauxhall Nova after it was in collision with another vehicle on the northbound side of Castle Way, Leybourne, near West Malling.

Fire crews from Maidstone and Larkfield attended the scene and used hydraulic cutting equipment to release the trapped woman who had injured her lower back and had to be lifted out on a spinal board.

She taken to Maidstone Hospital by land ambulance. The driver of the other vehicle was unhurt. The accident happened on Monday afternoon.
