MOTORISTS are expecting another round of petrol strikes, according to the latest survey by motor insurer Churchill.
The survey shows that 70 per cent of motorists would support protests similar to those in 2000, in the wake of escalating fuel prices.
Two-thirds are taking measures to protect themselves against a fuel crisis, such as stocking up on groceries and filling spare fuel tanks to keep in their cars.
The survey reveals it is younger drivers who most fear a petrol crisis, with 22 per cent stocking up on food and water in case of rationing, compared with 10 per cent of those aged between 45 and 64.
Frances Browning of Churchill Insurance said: "Our research shows clearly shows that it's the younger drivers who would feel the most vulnerable in the event of a crisis.
“The older generation, who perhaps have memories of the 1970s 'winter of discontent' or, going even further back, the Second World War, are made of sterner stuff."
