A drug addict who was trying to turn his life around, died after taking a lethal concoction of heroin and alcohol, an inquest heard.
Adrian Jameson, 33, of Hillside Road, Chatham, was found dead at his home on January 14, earlier this year.
Mr Jameson had recently moved into the flat owned by the Ashdown Accommodation Trust which provides housing for people who would otherwise be homeless.
As part of the accommodation agreement, Mr Jameson had not taken drugs for the previous 12 months.
The inquest, held at The Corn Exchange Rochester heard how Mr Jameson was found by support workers who had become concerned after not seeing him for a few days.
A postmortem examination found Mr Jameson, an unmarried factory worker, had taken heroin and consumed twice the legal drink driving level of alcohol.
Home Office pathologist Dr David Rouse described the combination as "lethal".
He said: "The effects of drugs and alcohol multiply each other."
The court also heard how Mr Jameson, would have experienced a loss of tolerance to the drug because he had not used for 12 months, which led to him taking an accidental overdose.
Coroner Roger Sykes recorded a verdict of death by misuse of drugs.
