Jaroslav Kmosko was jailed at Maidstone Crown Court

A brute who beat up a woman and then took sordid photos of her on his mobile phone has been jailed for 21 months.

Jaroslav Kmosko had been drinking heavily at Christmas last year when he "humiliated and degraded" the woman.

Edmund Burge, prosecuting, had alleged it was "a prolonged episode of physical and sexual violence".

But although the 33-year-old Slovakian was convicted of three charges of assault causing actual bodily harm, he was cleared of two of sexual assault by penetration.

Kmosko, formerly of St Mark’s Avenue, Gravesend, now of Waldeck Road, Dartford, denied all the charges.

Jurors at Maidstone Crown Court were shown the pictures Kmosko took of the woman, who was naked and distressed.

"We have tried to censor them so her modesty is preserved," said the prosecutor.

A recording of her 999 call in which she screamed and wept as Kmosko attacked her was also played.

"he launched a deliberate and sustained course of violence and sexual abuse…” – edmund burge, prosecuting

"You may find it upsetting," Mr Burge warned.

Kmosko and the woman were together when Kmosko became violent. She had gone to sleep and awoke to find him choking her as he took photos.

She struggled and told him to stop, but he carried on. He eventually stopped and she called 999. He beat her again while she was on the phone.

"We say he launched a deliberate and sustained course of violence and sexual abuse," said Mr Burge.

Kmosko claimed he took the photos so he could show the woman how drunk she was.

"It was probably a bit of a joke," he added through an interpreter.

But Mr Burge suggested the photos were taken of the victim to humiliate her and make her feel worthless.

Judge Philip St John-Stevens sent the jury away before it was revealed that Kmosko had previous convictions for sexual assault and battery on the same woman.

Passing sentence, he said the photos Kmosko took were degrading and added to the victim's humiliation.
