Welling moved to within three points of the Blue Square play-off places with a deserved win at Eastleigh on Wednesday night.
Eastleigh went close midway through the first half when Richard Gillespie headed Peter Adeniyi's cross against the bar while Lee Clarke (pictured) just failed to connect with Michael Deane's free-kick at the other end.
Welling took the lead in the 42nd minute when Jamie Day's free-kick fell to Jack Parkinson (pictured), who turned the ball home from four yards.
Clarke had an effort disallowed for offside in the second half and, when Welling lost their way, Eastleigh equalised with 15 minutes left when Gillespie headed past Charlie Mitten from a free-kick.
Welling responded positively and regained the lead in the 78th minute when Dean Cracknell set up Tom Whitnell, who beat keeper Billy Lumley with the home defence appealing for offside.
The points were wrapped up in the final minute when Day's ball over the top found Clarke, who chested it down before firing in from the edge of the penalty area.
There was a fracas when Adeniyi went in late on Parkinson, who had to be restrained by Wings assistant manager Barry Ashby at the final whistle.
