Egg throwers 'putting drivers in peril'

CHILDREN who have been throwing eggs at moving cars could be putting motorists in danger, say police in Thanet.

In recent weeks cars have been targeted at Marine Drive on Margate seafront and in Churchfields in the town. In one incident missiles were hurled through an open window, hitting a passenger and damaging the interior of the vehicle.

Gemma Pettman, spokesperson for Thanet police, said: “The actions of young people involved in these incidents is completely irresponsible.

“They must have some understanding of the danger they are putting people in by throwing objects at moving cars."

She stressed: "While the eggs may not cause much in the way of permanent damage, the impact could result in a driver swerving and even colliding with another car or pedestrian.”
