An elderly woman has died after being hit by a car.

The accident near the railway bridge in Harrietsham happened at around 8.45am today.

Anthony Carson, who lives at Sandway, Harrietsham, said at the scene: "I got there just after it happened.

"The road was closed and the Kent Air Ambulance was parked in a nearby field."

A land ambulance also attended as well as the police.

Police are now appealing for anyone who was driving through Harrietsham this morning and saw the accident to contact them on 01622 690055.
