AN ELDERLY woman was killed when the car she was travelling in was involved in an accident on a main road in Kent.

Police were called to the scene of the crash on the A21 between Kippings Cross roundabout and Lamberhurst at around 9.50am on Friday.

The victim, who was from the Sidcup area, was a passenger in a blue Ford Fiesta that collided with a blue VW Passat that was travelling in the opposite direction.

She was taken to hospital in Maidstone but later died from her injuries.

The male drivers of both cars were also taken to hospital with what police describe as non-serious injuries.

The road was closed for four hours.
