Elderly woman seriously hurt in 2-car smash

A 77-year-old woman was airlifted to hospital with serious injuries after a two-car collision on an A2 slip-road in the county.

The accident happened at about 8.30am and led to the closure of the Canterbury-bound slip road at Bridge.

The woman was cut out of her car by fire crews and taken by the Kent Air Ambulance to the Royal London Hospital with suspected internal injures.

An elderly man was also cut from the same car and taken to the William Harvey hospital suffering from chest pains.

The driver of the second car was not hurt.
