Elderly women injured as crash shuts A28

FOUR elderly women were injured following a collision involving two cars on a main road in the county.

The crash happened on the A28 at Shalmsford Street, near Canterbury, at about 2.45pm on Sunday.

Two women from one of the cars were taken to the QEQM Hospital at Margate; the others went to Ashford's William Harvey Hospital. They were suffering from shock and broken bones.

The road was closed after the accident and reopened at around 4.30pm.
