THOUSANDS of music lovers flocked to Mount Ephraim Gardens in Hernhill at the weekend for the second Electric Gardens festival.

The sun shone on the event, which featured more than 50 acts spread across four stages, including headline acts Supergrass and Happy Mondays, and popular newcomers Kate Nash and Newton Faulkner.

Dance fans were also in for a treat, with a performance by Calvin Harris on the main stage, and a huge array of top DJs in the Club Class Arena.

Young and old attended the event, which offered a laid-back and relaxed festival experience, enhanced by the picturesque surroundings of the 800-acre stately home and estate.

Festival-goers staying all weekend at the event were able to pitch their tents at the secure campsite, which offered a special on-site Midnight Village offering them late-night food, drinks and entertainment.

During the day and evening, all those at the festival could also enjoy a wide selection of gourmet refreshments sourced locally, including fruit from Mount Ephraim farm, although more traditional offerings from the ice cream van proved particularly popular in the hot weather.

In addition to the music, there were a variety of other types of festival treats on offer, with special stands offering the chance to laze on big bean bags, entertainers performing circus-style acts, and therapists offering Indian head massage under the shade of a tree in the grounds.
