England debut for Addicks striker

England v Uruguay

CHARLTON striker Darren Bent will get a chance to cement a place in England's World Cup squad when he starts for the first time in the friendly against Uruguay tonight.

Bent, who has scored 13 Premiership goals for the Addicks since his summer move from Ipswich, will partner Manchester United's Wayne Rooney in attack at Anfield in the absence of injury victim Michael Owen.

The 21-year-old was rewarded for his impressive early season form with a call-up to the squad to play Denmark in August, but was left on the bench by Sven-Goran Eriksson.

Meanwhile, defender Luke Young will be on the substitutes' bench tonight after the return to fitness of regular right-back Gary Neville.

England starting team: Robinson (Tottenham), G. Neville (Man Utd), Terry (Chelsea), Ferdinand (Man Utd), Bridge (Fulham), Beckham (Real Madrid), Carrick (Tottenham), Gerrard (Liverpool), J. Cole (Chelsea), D.Bent (Charlton, Rooney (Man Utd).
