Events will mark school's 300th anniversary

An open afternoon and a Party in the Park will help a primary school celebrate its 300th anniversary.

Both events are being hosted by Lady Joanna Thornhill Primary School, Bridge Road, Wye.

The party on Saturday, June 28, will be a musical event for all the children and anyone who wants to join in the celebrations.

Those attending are invited to bring a picnic. Entertainment will include the Norton Knatchbull Jazz Band, Rubber Biscuit, Scrap Metal and pupils.

There will also be a balloon release and refreshments for sale. The school gates will open at 1.30pm, with the party starting at 2pm.

Adult tickets are £8 in advance from the school (£10 on the gate). Lady Joanna pupils and pre-school children get in free and tickets for visiting children under 16 will be £5.

The school is also hosting an open afternoon on Saturday, June 7, from 1pm to 3pm.

There will be displays of pupils’ work, photographs, Maypole and Morris dancing and music by pupils.
