A woman believed to have been stabbed by her ex in a frenzied attack before he turned the knife on himself is slowly recovering.
Susan Borland, 50, was left fighting for her life after 54-year-old Paul Rivett tried to kill her last week, it's thought.
Mr Rivett then inflicted fatal injuries on himself.
He was rushed to the William Harvey Hospital in Ashford but doctors couldn't save him.
Ms Borland, 50, is still in intensive care and according to police her condition has improved.
The incident happened in Ash Grove, St Margaret's-at-Cliffe, at around 8am last Wednesday.
Neighbour Joe Kew, who lives opposite the house in Ash Grove, saw Mr Rivett and Ms Borland being taken out of the house on stretchers.
He said: "The whole scene was like something out of Crimewatch."
Ms Borland, who is from a St Margaret's family, had lived in Ash Grove since she moved there with Mr Rivett about six years ago.
Police are yet to iron out exactly what happened because they haven't been able to interview Ms Borland.
They said her condition was slowly improving. She was described as stable.
It is believed Mr Rivett was the only aggressor in the incident.
A date has not yet been set for Mr Rivett's inquest.
