FORMER cage fighter Lea Rusha says his voice cannot be heard in a recorded phone conversation between two alleged Securitas robbery co-conspirators.

Rusha, 35, of Lambersart Close, Southborough, Tunbridge Wells, admits that the conversation in which two men seem to discuss plans for the robbery took place on his phone, but says neither of the voices is his.

Speaking at the Old Bailey on Wednesday, Rusha said the phone conversation recorded on January 11, 2006, could have taken place when he passed his phone to the accomplice of a drug dealing contact.

Prosecuting QC Sir John Nutting said evidence from a voice analysis expert, Professor John French, suggested the recorded voice was Rusha's.

Professor French had said he could find no differences between Rusha's voice and the recorded voice.

Sir John said: "It would be astonishing if all the characteristics of your voice were shared by the man you passed your phone to."

Rusha maintained that he did not hold the conversation and explained that he did not know slang terms heard in the recording such as "tools" and "knobby", meaning guns and police.

The case continues.
