A FORMER Thanet district councillor has been charged with theft. Colin Kiddell, 45, of Valley Road in Margate, is due to appear at Thanet Court on Friday, January 16.

Police say the charge relates to the alleged theft of cash from the Scenic Railway Trust, set up to safeguard the future of the historic roller coaster at Dreamland fun park on Margate seafront, last year.

The former Conservative member, Mr Kiddell resigned from Thanet council just five months after he was elected last May.
