Gillingham are facing legal battles with two of their former employees, ex-assistant manager Scott Barrett and former chief executive Mark Jones

Club chairman Paul Scally has revealed that both Jones and Barrett, pictured, who was assistant manager under the previous management regime, are taking the club to an employment tribunal.

Mr Scally said: "I’m doing a lot of messy work that has to be done.

"I didn’t dismiss Mark Jones, he walked out. He is taking the club to the employment tribunal and claiming constructive dismissal.

"These are the unfortunate things about the job for any business now that employs staff.

"It takes myself and the staff a lot of time to defend these cases. It would be nice to deal with positive stuff instead of messy stuff but life is not like that.

"We’re still dealing with Scott Barrett. He’s taking us to tribunal as well, despite the fact he was offered a considerable amount of money as a settlement and that I actually didn’t sack him."
