FORMER Radio Kent presenter and North Kent journalist Colin Johnson has been ordained as a priest curate at a village church.
He was ordained at Canterbury Cathedral on Saturday as priest curate at St Peter and St Paul's Church in Borden, near Sittingbourne.
Parishioners who held a celebration morning in Borden Parish Church, School Lane, Borden, presented the Mr Johnson with gifts and a card.
He was ordained after a year as deacon curate at the church. That was followed by the presentation on Sunday where Mr Johnson thanked everyone for supporting him.
He said: "It has been an amazing rollercoaster of a weekend. Forty years ago I don't think I could have dreamt I would be a priest of the church, taking my first sermon. It is a bit like passing your driving test because that is only the beginning. It is a long, long path."
Mr Johnson celebrated the communion service for the first time on Sunday morning and is now also eligible to conduct weddings.
