It’s impossible to catch all the great acts at a festival but here are a few you would do well not to miss over the weekend at Lounge on the Farm, writes Chris Price
Theme Park, Meadows Stage, Friday, July 6
From: London
Big tracks: 2 Hours, Milk, A Mountain We Love
For fans of: Talking Heads
Info: After releasing a couple of low-key singles in the latter half of 2011, the band nabbed touring spots with Bombay Bicycle Club, Summer Camp and The Antlers. They even supported Florence and The Machine at Alexandra Palace in March and their calypso-tinged jangles have made them a highly-touted funk-rock entity.
Spector, Main Stage, Saturday, July 7
From: London
Big tracks: Celestine, Chevy Thunder, Never Fade Away
For fans of: Pulp
Info: This thunderous five-piece have their sights set on the lofty rails of the indie-pop ladder and have earned themselves a fair amount of airtime on Radio 1 of late. Already veterans of three UK tours, their debut album, Enjoy It While It Lasts, is sure to do well when it drops in mid-August so this might be a chance to catch guitar-music’s latest upstarts before they go all “arena tour” on us.
Jagga, Main Stage, Sunday, July 8
From: London
Big tracks: Modern Day Romance, Keep on the Light, Love Songs
For fans of: Katy B
Info: A man with explosive beats who is being styled as a new breed of pop star, there is a brooding heaviness in this city boy’s stadium-sized basslines and synths. His single Love Songs is released next weekend and is sure to get the hangover-nursing crowds moving again early on Sunday.
Niki and the Dove, Main Stage, Sunday, July 8
From: Stockholm, Sweden
Big tracks: The Fox, DJ, Ease My Mind, Tomorrow
For fans of: Bats For Lashes
Info: European electropop has never been so spellbinding since this Scandinavian duo brought their thrilling synth surges and pop hooks to the festival stage. Niki and the Dove formed as a duo in 2010 and finished fifth in the BBC Sound of 2012 poll. Expect a set packed with emotion, pounding drums and beautiful, soaring vocals.
