Folkestone's Simon Austin scores against Horsham Picture: Paul Amos

Folkestone Invicta scored four goals in a game for the first time since the final day of the 2008-09 season to book their place in the FA Cup second qualifying round with a 4-2 home win against Horsham on Saturday.

Darren Smith, captaining Invicta in the absence of the suspended Micheal Everitt, and Simon Austin both scored twice for Neil Cugley's side against their fellow Ryman League Premier Division strugglers.

Margate scored three goals in the second half to win 3-0 in the first qualifying round at Hellenic League side Binfield, near Bracknell.

After an uninspiring first 45 minutes, Iain O'Connell's side found their rhythm and strolled to victory through strikes from Shaun Welford, Tommy Osbourne and Ishmail Kamara with his first goal for the club.

Maidstone United's poor start to the season took a further turn for the worse as they lost 3-1 at Ryman League Division 1 South side Whitehawk at Brighton - and had two players sent off into the bargain.

Stones went in front through a 20th-minute own goal by Paul Armstrong but it was mostly all downhill for Peter Nott's side from that point, with Whitehawk replying through Ben Godfrey (2) and Jerahl Hughes, while Adam Marsh and James Peacock were sent off in the second half.

It was a bad day too for Tonbridge Angels in the first qualifying round, who lost 1-0 at home to Combined Counties League side Guildford City. Joel Greaves scored the only goal four minutes from time .

Ian Pulman scored a late winner for Whitstable Town as they defeated East Grinstead Town 1-0 at The Belmont, but Faversham Town bowed out 3-1 at Fleet Town.

Matt Bourne scored a late consolation goal for Faversham, who finished the game with 10 men after substitute Justin Ascheri picked up a straight red card.
