Manager Andy Hessenthaler insists Gillingham have had no contact from the Football Association despite Rotherham’s continuing protests over Curtis Weston’s challenge on their keeper Andy Warrington.

The Gills boss described Weston’s challenge on Warrington as clumsy but Rotherham manager Ronnie Moore is refusing to let the matter drop.

Warrington had to leave the field at Priestfield last Tuesday night after a challenge Moore described as a "horrific stamp".

Speaking to the Sheffield Star ahead of their match at Oxford, Moore was still fuming at the incident.

"It is like Andy has been in a car crash and not a football game," said Moore. "It was a horrific stamp on his head. I’m going to go as high as I can and let everyone know that we are not happy with the situation.

"I don’t see why we should be treated any differently to the Premier League boys if we think there is something not quite right.

"If he (Weston) had done that on a Saturday night he would have been locked up."

Warrington was able to play on Saturday and Hessenthaler is sticking by his man. He said: "We’ve heard nothing from the FA. Like I said on the night, it was a clumsy challenge and he made a mistake. There was no malice in it, which their manager said there was.

"I don’t see that the FA will do anything about it. If they do we will certainly appeal it. It didn’t look pretty in the paper but knowing Curtis as I do, it was just one of those things."
