Teenager Fabian Cowdrey became the third generation of the famous Kent cricketing family to play for the county when he made his first-class debut in the three-day friendly against Oxford MCCU at The Parks this week.

The 19-year-old right-handed batsman and left-arm spinner made only one with the bat as an inexperienced Kent side made 251-8 in their first innings on Wednesday.

A former Tonbridge School pupil, like his grandfather Colin, father Chris, and his uncle Graham, he plays club cricket for Sevenoaks Vine.

Colin and Chris captained Kent and England. Colin represented the county for 27 successive seasons, leading the side from 1957 to 1971, playing 114 Tests for England – 27 as captain.

Chris played almost 300 first-class games for the county between 1977 and 1992, winning six Test caps, captaining England once against the West Indies in 1988.

Graham played 179 first-class matches for the county.
