A family have paid a moving tribute to a woman found strangled to death at her home.

Relatives were speaking after the body of Annette Sturt was found at her house in Prescott Close, Guston, near Dover, on Sunday, May 20.

In a prepared statement, her family said they "would like to thank all the friends and colleagues who have offered their support and help at this sad time.

"Like us, many are shocked and devastated by the tragic death of Annette.

"Everyone will have their own memories of her, she would want us to remember her by them and celebrate her life."

They described Ms Sturt as a "wonderful, caring person who touched the lives of many - she will be sadly missed."

The tribute comes after a man appeared in court charged with murdering his mother as it is revealed she was strangled to death.

Gary Sturt, 30, of Clarendon Street, Dover, was remanded in custody accused of killing the 49-year-old.

He is due to appear at Maidstone Crown Court on Wednesday, June 6.
