TWO young men were today remanded in custody charged with murdering two teenagers in a fire in Margate at the weekend.

They are Daniel Parry, 20, of Approach Road, Margate, and a 17-year-old boy who cannot be named for legal reasons. They spoke only to confirm their names and addresses.

The pair are due to make their next appearance at Maidstone Crown Court early next week.

They were among five men arrested over the weekend after the fire at flats in Grovesnor Place in the early hours of Saturday morning. Three other men have been released on bail pending further enquiries.

The 18-year-old victims, David Slater and James Mullins, were found dead on the third floor of the building.

James’s twin brother, Michael, is undergoing treatment at a specialist burns unit in East Grinstead in West Sussex.
