Striker Febian Brandy has decided not to extend his loan spell with Gillingham.

The Manchester United striker joined the Gills on loan at the start of November, scoring two goals in nine games during his two-month spell at Priestfield.

Gills boss Mark Stimson revealed at the weekend that Brandy had been given the green light to stay with the club until the end of the season.

But the 20-year-old forward, who has also enjoyed spells on loan at Swansea and Hereford, has decided to return to Old Trafford.

It will come as a major blow for Stimson, who was hopeful that Brandy would remain at Priestfield to help boost Gillingham's League 1 campaign.

Stimson said at the weekend: "It's just up to the lad and his advisor whether he agrees. We hope he does because he's been brilliant for us.

"We're going to need more strikers in the building if we are going to score goals to keep us in the league."

Gills could still try to persuade Brandy to return to Priestfield for the rest of the season while the transfer window remains open.
