Female 'getaway driver' injures policeman

A KENT police officer suffered a broken kneecap when a woman appeared to drive a car at him deliberately.

The incident happened after a member of the public reported seeing two people pulling cables from a box at the side of the railway line at Goldsel Road, Swanley, near Dartford.

Police officers who went to investigate, at about 10.20pm on Sunday, saw two young men running off alongside the railway line. Shortly afterwards the officers came across a car parked nearby.

A police spokeswoman said: "The woman driver in the car appeared to deliberately drive at one of the officers, colliding with him and causing him to suffer a broken kneecap. The woman then drove away."

The car was later found at an address in Swanley and a woman in her 40s was arrested in connection with the incident.

Police would like to hear from anyone with information. They can be contacted on 01732 379217 or Kent Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
