Cross-Channel travellers have been warned there may be further disruption following the French fishermen's strike.

Police say Operation Stack remains in place - and their advice is check before you drive.

The fishermen's blockade of Calais is over, with ferries leaving and entering Dover, but all travellers are advised check their ferry bookings before setting off.

Further strike action planned in France by rail workers may still have an impact on ferry services, police said.

Officers estimate Operation Stack will continue in the run-up to the weekend.

A spokesman said: "Together with increased traffic because of the bank holiday weekend, the pressure on Kent's roads will be significantly increased and will have a considerable impact on members of the public using the roads leading to and from the Dover area."

A spokesman for the Port of Dover said services with P&O Ferries and SeaFrance to Calais would be subject to disruption.

Norfolkline services to Dunkerque are running to time and SpeedFerries services to Boulogne have resumed.
