Fines for illegal taxi touts

TWO taxi drivers have been fined by magistrates for illegally touting for business.

George Chaney, 33, of Tay Close, Lordswood, was accused of illegally plying for hire on November 10, 2004, between Amadeus nightclub and Strood.

He was fined £750 with £125 costs.

Harun Khan, 46, of Ross Street, Rochester, was fined £500 with £125 costs for the same offence between the Corn Exchange and Maidstone Road, Rochester, on December 11, 2004.

Both men pleaded guilty.
